Embracing Creativity: A Personal Journey into Circles and Shadows Jewellery
Hello, Sparkling Souls! I am absolutely delighted to welcome you to Circles and Shadows Jewellery, and Design where I get to share my passion for crafting unique pieces that celebrate individuality, and happiness. My name is Gillian Hutton, and I am the maker, designer, photographer and all-around small business owner
Before diving into the world of jewellery, my life revolved around dance and aerial arts, where I found joy and expression in movement, performance and teaching. My heart soared with every chance to connect through the ethereal language of movement. However, life's twists and turns led me to a pivotal moment when I underwent back surgery last year. This life-changing experience prompted me to re-evaluate my path and discover new ways to express my creativity.
I was actually looking to find a photography course and came across a pottery one instead at Newcastle College from there I followed the flow and came upon the captivating world of jewellery-making using silver clay!  From there, I have continued into more traditional silversmithing techniques and love to combine them. Like aerial arts, I’ve found that creating jewellery has offered me a similar sense of creativity, exploration and challenge. (Plus I did find a photography course in Bishop Auckland!)
My design aesthetic is curated around a sense of fluidity and elegance, often drawing in elements of nature and movement.  Recently I’ve been working on a mermaid collection in association with Aria Art and Movement. From crafting delicate silver clay pendants to wire-wrapping ethically sourced semi-precious stones like pink opal, tree agate, and amethyst, each creation becomes a manifestation of my journey through resilience and change.
I’m also pleased to be back in the air, on the rock and in the water!
As you embark on this journey with me, I invite you to explore the Circles and Shadows Jewellery collections available on Folksy and browse my website. Whether you're seeking a thoughtful gift for a cherished friend or looking to treat yourself, I believe that each piece in my store holds the potential to become a treasured symbol of your own personal story.
